THE WORST BLOG EVER WRITTEN.: Album credits
Just like providing a click thru link, posting who recorded, produced, mixed, and/or mastered your album somewhere on your main site, bandcamp, or facebook should be mandatory. I can’t even find who recorded the newest Pianos Become The Teeth record. Topshelf records has all their releases on…
The digital era is [depending on your perspective, arguably] a very new and exciting landscape where there are no established norms for most things related to music. Think about how you accessed music two years ago. Probably didn’t involve Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Spotify, Rdio, Grooveshark, etc. etc., etc.. Things are constantly in flux and details like this get lost in the shuffle.
Let’s also consider the simple fact that all of these releases existed (for the most part) pre-bandcamp which is to say, I had to spend all the time to upload them all to the site en masse. Have you ever uploaded an album to bandcamp? If you have, then you know how much this paragraph hurts to type. What a fucking process. Anyway, forgive me for taking the path of least resistance.
My last argument here will be that these credits always have and always will exist within the physical format so I implore you, oh inquiring one, to please support independent labels, musicians, artists and record stores by buying records. You’ll find everything you’re looking — and listening — for there. I’ll consider your advice going forward, though. It’s also worth noting that we’re working on a discography page that will catalog all of the information for all of our releases on our website. Cheers.
Truth.
